Dear congress delegates, EORS members and friends
As the EORS president and on behalf of the EORS Board, I cordially welcome you to the 28th Annual Congress of the European Orthopaedic Research Society that is for the first time in our history virtual.
The congress president Prof. Feza Korkusuz and his team have done outstanding work to ensure that the meeting can take place this year. I would to like to express my full gratitude for the team’s professionalism, motivation, creativity and adaptability for switching to a virtual format. Thank you Feza & team! Just like this year’s motto, you tried your best to translate research towards orthopaedics but under unusual conditions. I would like to acknowledge all sponsors who made this event possible and especially TOTBID, the ON Foundation as well as the EORS for the large number of sponsored registrations.
We have faced very unusual and challenging times at the beginning of this year that have shifted our focus and influenced our lives enormously. Nevertheless, EORS has brought the 28th Annual Congress directly to you with a very extensive virtual program.
Virtual EORS2020 is including keynote lectures, many symposia, free abstract talks, posters, as well as preserving its traditional ‘Young Investigators’ and ‘Women Leadership and Representation’ activities. The ON Foundation will organize, in collaboration with the EORS, a Symposium dedicated to Orthoregeneration. Virtual rooms for technical exhibitors and even virtual tours presenting the rich history of Turkey will be also accessible. Last but not least, the EORS General Assembly and Award Ceremony will take place and I kindly invite you to join and stay connected.
I believe virtual EORS2020 will be a new experience for us all and as Mustafa K. Atatürk once said:
“Bilim ve fen için kayıt ve şart yoktur. –There is no specific condition for science; it should happen as it is.”,
this year despite the obstacles to meet in person, we will celebrate orthopaedic science in the virtual space.
I welcome you to the virtual EORS 2020 and I wish you a great and enriching experience!
Prof. Dr. Denitsa Docheva, President of the EORS
Dear EORS2020 Participants,
We kindly request your support for the EORS2020 Remote Attendance Virtual Congress.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemics most musculoskeletal science congresses have been cancelled or postponed. We believe orthopedic research needs continuity. Converting the EORS2020 into a Remote Attendance Virtual Congress provides an opportunity to present new data and receive feed-back on your studies.
Science has no borders. Current travel and accommodation restrictions motivated the suggestion of a virtual congress. In lieu of a face-to-face congress, this will provide a forum to present your studies and publish your abstracts in the BJR. You will further be able to watch and listen to pre-recorded or live online keynote presentations, and invited symposia lectures. Posters will also be displayed and discussed via virtual sessions.
Technical exhibitors can be visited in their virtual room. They will display their products and you will be able to interact with them.
The social part will be experimental. We are preparing all social events in a virtual environment. You can experience arriving in and touring Izmir. You will have the opportunity to participate in the Ephesus, Pergamon and Pamukkale tours. The “Overcoming Disabilities with Orthopaedic Research” competition and exhibition is still receiving photographs. You will be able to tour the art collection of the Swissotel Grand Efes throughout the event. The virtual Young Investigators Event will take place on September 17, 2020 Thursday at 17:00 Local Time (UTC/GMT +3). Our technical team will do their best to enable you to experience the actual Izmir waterfront during this event. ‘The next day, September 18, 2020 Friday at 11:30 Local Time (UTC/GMT +3), we will celebrate the virtual General Assembly and Award Ceremony. You will be able to hear the remarks of the presidents of the EORS and ICORS. Young Investigator Meet the Mentor Meetings will be scheduled.
To participate, please send your study abstract and registration (http://www.eors2020.org/registration/).
